FAQ’s
Is Remapping Legal?
Yes, remapping is legal as long as emissions systems remain compliant. Removing or disabling components like the DPF or catalytic converter is illegal for road vehicles and so is only suitable to off-roading or race only vehicles, however optimising the ECU settings is entirely within the law.
Will remapping affect my warranty?
There is no reason that a remap should void your warranty.
Will remapping affect my insurance?
ECU remapping can impact your car insurance. Remapping changes your vehicle's performance by increasing power and torque, which can label your car as modified. Although there may ultimately be no change to your premium, most policies require you to report any modifications, and not doing so might void your coverage during a claim. We therefore always encourage our customers to contact their insurance provider and declare the remap.
Will remapping improve fuel economy?
Yes, remapping can improve fuel efficiency. Whether you’re stuck in traffic or cruising on the Motorway, a well-optimised ECU can ensure you get the most from every tank of fuel.
Is remapping a car good for the engine?
Yes, when done professionally, remapping can improve engine efficiency and performance. TWP ensures safe and reliable tuning, enhancing power without adding unnecessary strain.
Do remaps fail MOT?
No, a remap itself won’t cause an MOT failure, as long as emissions and safety systems remain intact. TWP’s engine tuning is fully compliant, ensuring your remap won’t affect MOT results. Every Tuning file is fully emissions tested by Viezu to Euro 6 MOT standards.
Does a remap devalue a car?
A professionally done remap will make a car more appealing to performance or economy-focused buyers.
Will I get proof of what was remapped?
We will provide you with a Viezu approved certificate via email, within 48 hours of your remap.
